So today I’m in Irvine, California, and I’m at the medical tech forum hosted powered by octane.
And my guest today is Neda Dadashzadeh. Did I say it right? Your last name. Say it again for me, because I don’t want to mess it up. Dadadache. Yes. Dadash Zadeh. Dadash Zadeh. Yes. Okay. I’m going to get better at this, but it’s a beautiful name. Not your fault. It’s difficult. Well, Neda, I just want to say welcome to the show.
Thank you. All right. Thank you for hosting us. So what brings you to the conference today? Sure. I work for Alcon Ophthalmology and Alcon is sponsoring, one of the sponsors of this event. and the opportunity is provided to me to come over, learn about different innovations technical perspectives and different businesses in the area other than the ophthalmology.
Yeah. So, what’s been one of your favorite parts about the event so far? Yeah. There was this great opportunity for networking with great leaders. And I learned about the devices I was not aware before. And yeah, so this is the bold part. What do you do for Alcon? Talk a little bit maybe about your role.
Sure. I’m in the R and D department, so I work on next generation surgical instruments and anything related to the laser surgery for cataract or retract to me. Or like other than lasers like components, like optical fibers, which deliver the laser. I work on their development and advancement.
So different projects. Is this your first time coming to an Octane conference? Yes. Yeah. So what do you think is the first time, this is my second one, and I’m hooked, I mean, I come back, this is already my second one in a couple of months, like, what do you think so far just being your first time? Yes. Very exciting.
I usually go to bigger conferences, I have to fly far away, and Oh, so you’re in California then? Yes. Yes. Yes, I I live and work in Orange County. Mm. And this by by far and locally has been like the best event Mm technical event I have been to. I usually go to SBIE conference.
Yeah. To meet with different innovations and different become familiar with cutting edge technologies. But this event is very close and there are great companies here locally. So that’s amazing. So you mentioned that you, you were learning about new things and you work in R and D. So you must have been like hearing the new ideas and stuff like that.
Like, what does that do for you? Like when you get here, those new ideas? Yes. So in the R& D department, we have ideation sub department as well. When we see like a, a new area that could be integrated to our surgical instruments, we can bring this to our ideation management and we can discuss, get funding for those and explore new areas.
For example, For instance, AI integration to surgical instruments is a step back. So and as you know, it is quickly coming up to speed for different companies. So it’s good to see how they are being used and in which areas of the ophthalmology they could be most helpful. So try to integrate those.
Tell us a little bit more about just Alcon in general, like tell us a little bit more about Alcon for those that maybe aren’t aware of the company. Yes. Sure. Alcon is a great place to work for. Yeah. So so Alcon ophthalmology. Mm-Hmm. Has different branch location wise. The headquarter US headquarters is in is in Texas.
Mm-Hmm. . And there are offices all around the world. R and d department is, here in Orange County. And there’s a headquarter in Switzerland as well. So we cover so many different products from the eye lenses, from the surgical instruments so anything related to ophthalmology. And the R& D department, which is here in Lake Forest, California, is covering the surgical instruments.
So it is a leading company in ophthalmology, and there are all types of devices surgical instruments, and also visualization devices. Department in charge of microscope products and like ingenuity is a digital microscope. So covers all products for ophthalmology. Amazing. All right.
Last question. If somebody wants to connect with you or to learn more, like, like how do they do that? Sure. Or follow you on social media or anything else. Definitely I have my email available, right my first name.my last name at Alcon. I am on LinkedIn. Yeah. And what else? . That’s it. . That works well.
