Hey, I’d like to welcome you to another episode of Mission Matters. My name is Adam Torres and today I am at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida at a DealFlow event called the Pikes Conference and my guest is Arpit. Arpit, welcome to the show. Hey Adam, how are you? All right, I’m having all kinds of fun.
First off, what do you think about this venue? Hard Rock Casino, kind of nice, huh? The venue could have never been better. It is amazing. It is beautiful. We drove into a whole guitar, right? Oh, absolutely. The yesterday is evening function. The welcome party was amazing. Hold on. I missed the welcome party by the pool, right?
Like that was, I just got in a little, you know, it was, it was fun. Absolutely. It was fun. So, so what brings you out to the conference today? So generally we, I represent a accounting firm and we have been in the capital markets industry and the public funding industry since a while. So I’m here for making connections and kind of.
Introduce our firms to the legal firms, attorneys out there, the capital market firms, and then also the companies out there looking to go public or do some public funding and help them out for the process. And where’s the firm located? So we are headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. KNAB is an international accounting firm and other than Atlanta, we are also there in Toronto, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Singapore, and India, and we are globally more than 600 people.
Amazing. How’d you get started in this business? So I’ve always been in this industry. So I am a CPA. I have been with KNNV since the beginning of my career. Oh, come on. That’s what I’m talking about. Yeah. Yeah. So I’ve always been an auditor. So I lead the PCOD audit practice at KNNV. I also live in Atlanta.
Hmm. So how has the event been for you so far? Like in terms of making connections and meeting people, I’ll tell you for me, as I’ve gone through here and I’ve been interviewing people, of course, but high level crowd, man, it’s been like fruitful. Absolutely. So the event has been good so far. We were expecting a lot of companies coming out there, looking for opportunities to do a public funding.
But as far as we are concerned, we are here to make a relationship with the legal firms, attorneys. The capital markets, the company, the CEO, CFO. So for us, it has been really fantastic. And the previous connection that we already made. I mean, it’s good to catch up with them again, kind of. It’s almost like this community too, that’s been building, right?
I know there’s a micro cap conference coming up pretty soon that deal flow is going to have and some other ones. I’m like, you see some of the same faces. You get to know people over time. It’s kind of interesting. Absolutely. So can now I have been attending the SPAC conference. Oh, I missed that one.
You know what, I did interviews for that one remotely, but I didn’t go to, it was the SPAC and reggae, I think this year it was called, right? That’s right, that’s right. So they always have a conference in New York. I’ve been attending since past couple of years. So yeah, I mean, it’s great. It’s good to meet the same faces again and again.
And of course, it’s great to kind of meet new people. Yeah. What about the programming? Like I, I I’ve been doing interviews, so I didn’t get a chance to go into a lot of the programming. You’ve been pretty good this year. Like the, the speakers, the like knowledge, the. Absolutely. So these speakers are all stalwarts of the industries.
Yeah. They know the industry in and out, they have been into the industry working in this particular field. So the insights from them are really valuable. As a firm, we get to know, okay how is the industry moving? How is the market performing? What are the future prospects? With all the election results that have come in.
So I think the things are improving. There is some positivity. So there are some transition going to happen. So, yeah, let’s see. But the sessions have been really good and informative. Yeah, I thought so. That’s what I’ve gotten, like, a lot of the feedback I’ve gotten was like, these are some really, like, some conferences you go to, everybody’s, like, in the hallway or everybody’s, and I’m like, I was like, what’s going on here?
Did anybody come? Then you look at it, it’s like, oh, everybody’s sitting there. sitting down and paying attention. I’m like, are they taking attendance in the world? I wasn’t getting up. No, no, that’s right. I mean I mean, yeah, I mean, every, every, there are so many different. People that are attending the conference.
Right. So every topic are of interest for somebody or the other. Right. So yeah, definitely. It’s so informative. And these kinds of sessions are really, they really bring the industry. I mean, if you look at the participants, there are all the service providers here, everything you can count in this industry.
