About Ronit Plank

Experienced Writer (The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Iowa Review), author of the memoir When She Comes Back (Motina Books 2021), podcaster, and instructor with a demonstrated history in publishing fiction and creative nonfiction and teaching children, teenagers, and adults. Skilled in public speaking, facilitating groups and building relationships. Strong communications professional with a Masters of Fine Arts in Nonfiction focused in Writing from Pacific University.

She’s a writer, podcaster, teacher, wife, & mother. A native New Yorker and former actress who studied with Uta Hagen, Alfred Molina, and Ensemble Studio Theatre and did theater in NYC before heading to LA. Once there she got to perform at Improv Olympic, study at The Groundlings, and work with Tim Robbins and the company at The Actors’ Gang for several productions. She also spent a year of Sundays volunteer-training and feeding marine mammals at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, met her husband, and decided she was okay with leaving Los Angeles.

Soon after moving to Seattle with her family she transitioned from acting to writing and began publishing short stories and essays. Some of her work has been published in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The HuffPost, & The Rumpus, but for a complete list of links please visit her Published Work page at ronitplank.com. I’m a One Story Workshop for Writers alum, have a Masters in Fine Arts in Nonfiction from Pacific University in Oregon, and When She Comes Back, she coming-of-age memoir about the loss of my mother to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and their reconciliation, will be released by Motina books in 2021.

She created her podcast And Then Everything Changed, featuring guest interviews about pivotal moments in their life and the decisions that define them, to be able to learn about her guests and share those conversations with listeners who love stories of compassion, hardship, resilience, and grit. She think sharing stories is one of the most powerful ways they have to connect, to understand each other better, and to remember none of them are alone. She firmly believe stories can help them heal.
