What is blended wine? Blends are wines that do not carry a single varietal designation. Some of the finest wines in the world are actually wine blends. Bordeaux blends and Rhone blends are some of the most famous but here in California Opus One and Joseph Phelps in the Napa Valley have honed their skills creating phenomenal wine blends themselves. For example; Insignia. A blended wine is complex in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
