Guest CyberCEO Caldwell urges business owners to be purposeful when it comes to creating systems to build structure in a virtual world. In this episode, Cruz and Caldwell agree that Cyberbacker’s attention to recruiting and ongoing training saves CEOs valuable time.
“Systems are Everything”
Brett Caldwell, Operating Principal of seven Keller Williams franchises based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and MAPS Leadership Coach, knew that he wanted to try Cyberbacker when he heard top producers talking about their success with the company. Though Caldwell had never worked with a virtual assistant, his experience during the pandemic “opened the possibility.” Caldwell says he realized, “hey, they don’t have to be sitting next to me to be highly productive.”
While the transition to working with Cyberbacker was smooth, Caldwell says, he needed to take a purposeful look at the systems he had in place. “Systems are the prescription for success with leverage,” Caldwell says. “You have to hold the business accountable.”
Innovative Virtual Leverage
Caldwell comments on the ease of the Cyberbacker hiring process. Cyberbacker did all of the screening and recruiting, and “brought 3 candidates to the table for me to interview,” Caldwell says. “The hardest part was that I liked all three.”
Though Caldwell thought all candidates were qualified, he ended up selecting his Cyberbacker, Steven, for unconventional reasons. “He was excited to learn,” Caldwell says. Furthermore, he felt that Steven’s familiarity with the digital world as a lover of video games indicated his capacity for virtual work. “In a virtual leverage world, I need innovation,” Caldwell says. Happily, what Caldwell predicted has turned out to be true. Cyberbacker Steven is an integral member of Caldwell’s team, assisting with everything from metrics and data-pulling to marketing. “I have 100% confidence in everything he does,” Caldwell says.
Knowing Your Worth
Caldwell’s advice to business owners considering virtual leverage is “Know your worth. Leverage means that you should be able to spend more time on higher dollar-per-hour activities.” A virtual assistant like Steven, Caldwell says, allows business owners to do this by absorbing less revenue-generating (but nonetheless essential) tasks.
Furthermore, a person in an assistant role is gaining valuable experience as the “next generation leader” of the company. “We’re all control freaks,” Caldwell says. “You have to let go of that mindset pretty quickly,” he continues, if you want your business to grow.
