Hey, I’d like to welcome you to another episode of Mission Matters. My name is Adam Torres, and today we are at Grant Cardone headquarters in Florida. And I just got done watching a pitch competition and we’re bringing on some of the contestants here. And I actually got on a winner today, a fourth and Daquan, welcome to the show.
Thank you. Thank you so much. It’s an honor to be here. All right. So first thing first, what was it like up there when you were pitching? It when I got up there, it was sort of, how do I explain this? I didn’t really feel any type of nervousness. It was sort of like, okay, I know my stuff. I don’t really need the slides.
So let’s just, you know, get to the point, you know what I’m saying? Hit the nail. You know, I gave a little backstory, a quick backstory to try to get the premise down. And my goal was really to just. Have my vision be seen by those who are potential investors and get them to see like what I’m trying to do for the people that I cater to.
So that’s really what today was about for me. Speaking of, didn’t you get a check man? I did not receive a check. Oh, Daquan. Oh, you’re right. Oh, no, you got a partnership. That’s what it was. Ed was, Ed was partnering with you. Yeah, Ed’s in the music industry. Ed, man, you got better than that, man. Wait, didn’t he drop DJ Khaled’s name?
Yeah, he did. Talk about the music side of things in your brain, your project, because I’m just saying, man, I was like, man, I ain’t in music, but I ain’t name dropping DJ Khaled. No. Yeah. Okay. So, like, the, for my project, What I want to do is, I want to help those who don’t have the resources to make music.
Yeah. And I want to give them that opportunity for themselves to be heard and get their name out there. Yeah. And so, cause a lot of my favorite artists, like, they usually grew up the way they came up. Mm hmm. And the music industry is, they would spend their last to travel somewhere to make music in that area.
Mm hmm. I don’t want the people that I’m catering to, to have to, Spend their money to travel when I could just have a, you know, a location for them that they can go to where they’re at, so that they could get that experience. And I also want to educate them on how to use these, this equipment. So that’s another thing.
What was the how’d you come up with that idea originally? I came up with this idea because it was a personal problem when I started making music, you know, the music industry is really tough. Like you have folks that’ll, you know, they’ll like give you advice, but they’re not going to give you no handouts.
They’re not going to tell you how to record music. They’re not going to tell you what you got to do or how to get your name out there. They just don’t give you advice. Basic simple answers like you gotta keep pushing I heard it all before and then when you need like specific advice on like, okay, so How do I mix my vocals?
Right? How do I record? How do I make sure that my audio interface is picking up my microphone? A lot of people don’t really sit there and You know give you the information that you need they’ll tell you oh, you just look it up or oh You just watch a YouTube video on it. And so I’m shot being in that position.
It was kind of like wow like dude It’s a music industry. It’s all about, you know, giving and I’m trying to do what you’re doing and you’re just giving me these, you know, little small, simple answers. That’s kind of like, what’s the word? It’s kind of disappointing because, you know, in the music industry, I believe that helping each other evolve.
Is key. Music is everywhere. Music is the future. When you go to the gym, you listen to music. When you’re driving, you listen to music. When you’re getting ready to play a football game, you’re listening to music. Music is full of emotion and I feel like The emotion isn’t there when it comes to helping others Try to pursue their career.
You know, once somebody makes it They’ll usually, you know, forget where they come from And I feel like I could prevent that by, you know, pursuing my goals. So that’s, that’s amazing. So what, what was it like working through this whole process with the grant Cardone foundation for you? What was that like?
It was pretty, pretty smooth actually. I was kind of expecting it to be Rocky. I was expecting me to stumble on my presentation. I’m surprised I didn’t. But I was expecting to like kind of mess up here and there, but everything went smooth. Greg Cardone Foundation, it was smooth. Everything from the tour to the pitch contest.
