Hey, I want to welcome you to another episode of mission matters. We are in Glendale, California at the tech week. And today my guests, we’re going to be talking a little bit about more, what happened to what happened at tech week and what we could expect. So first off welcome. And what did you think about Glendale tech week?
That no tech week is not just great for Glendale and tech companies, but also for the region and the state. This is an innovative approach to bringing the tech community together. And we’re proud to have Glendale the connector city. We are perfectly geographically located, connecting the different valleys, close to downtown.
And so it’s the perfect hub for technology to get to him. So what was one of your favorite parts about the event today? I definitely say the closing ceremony is always my favorite. And then second to that is demo day, because you get to see all the cool startups that are coming up. Glendale’s also the.
Proud to partner with Hero House. I’m not sure if people are aware, but we have a tech incubator that is partnered and sponsored by the city of Glendale right here in the heart of our city which generates and supports our tech companies. Yeah. So talk to me just a little bit about like the, the concept of how Glendale is supporting the, the tech innovation that’s happening in the area, just businesses in general, like, like how are they supporting?
Well, a couple of things. I’d note that Glendale is one of the most. Business friendly cities in all of California. We don’t have need more of those. We don’t like yeah, we don’t have a small business tax. We don’t have a license that you’d have to paper on an annual basis that you need to get. And then, of course, like things that are coming out of our economic development departments, such as oil and gas.
Our concierge service. So for example, if you’re looking for a space in the city of Glendale or you’re trying to Scale up your team or get some branding done These things can be provided to you through our economic development concierge services proud to say that about two years ago. I helped initiate for us to have a small business summit Which this last year brought over 500 small businesses together This coming week, we’re going to have the first Women’s Equality Day event.
We’re going to be bringing in the Small Business Administration, LA Economic Development Department. And really, the point of all of these events is to not only connect the business communities together, but also provide the resources that are out there. I think not just the city of Glendale, but the region and the state have amazing programs.
And one of the largest issues that I see is the lack of access. For for small business owners, but also it’s very layered for different business communities. So if you’re an immigrant’s business owner, have language barriers, learning to navigate the government processes. The amount of like red tape we can help remove from from that is a priority for the city of Glendale Final question.
I want you to look into the camera and to everybody if they’re talking about Glendale tech week business initiatives Learn more about the city overall. How do people learn more? You can go to my Glendale social media pages or you can go to Choose Glendale. com. All of our economics development resources are there.
We have a very robust social media for the city of Glendale. And so please make sure to follow and get berated something. Amazing.
