New Podcast alert! In this episode,  Adam Torres and Rob Scheer, Founder of Comfort Cases and Host of Fostering Change Podcast, explore Rob’s podcast and mission at Comfort Cases.

About Rob Scheer

Rob is a proud fathers of five children from the foster care system who arrived at their home with trash bags. Growing up in foster care himself, Rob remembered feeling disposable as a child carrying a trash bag to his foster home, and he wondered how this could still be happening 30 years later.

In 2013, the Scheer family set out on a mission to eliminate the use of trash bags in the foster care system and provide children entering the system with brand new essential and comfort items. To date, Comfort Cases has impacted over 150,000 children in the foster care system.

Rob is currently the CEO of Comfort Cases, traveling the country to share his story and advocate for youth in foster care. He published his memoir in 2018: A Forever Family: Fostering Change One Child at a Time. Reece cares for their five children at home. They live on a farm in Darnestown, MD with 2 cats, 2 dogs, a bird, 3 goats, several chickens and ducks, and a pig named Penelope.

About Comfort Cases

Comfort Cases was founded in 2013 with the mission of inspiring communities to bring hope and dignity to foster youth. Comfort Cases believes that every child has the right to a more humane experience in foster care, and that starts by providing each child in care with a Comfort Case to hold their belongings instead of a trash bag.

With the initial goal of helping hundreds, Comfort Cases has dramatically expanded its reach since its inception having delivered more than 95,000 cases to children and youth ranging from newborns to the age of 21 in all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. With Comfort Cases distributed to social service agencies, private agencies, emergency domestic violence shelters, family shelters, schools, and police departments, the reach has been broad to children and youth.

With exciting developments on the horizon, Comfort Cases continues to grow. While engaged in the process of planning for national expansion, Comfort Cases has established supporters in all 50 states who want to play a meaningful role in fulfilling Comfort Cases’ presence and impact. Children deserve the very best from their communities, and Comfort Cases believes it is our responsibility and our privilege to come together to effect positive change in the lives of children and youth in need in foster care.
