All right, so today I’m in Newport at the Newport Beach Investor Conference, and let me tell you, this is one of my favorite conferences of the year.
Lots of fun, meet with many investors. I learned about new I. New investments I learned about watch the pitch competitions, I mean, world class pitch competitions of companies that are aiming to raise capital. So lots of good stuff here. If you haven’t been definitely make it next year’s. Great time.
And first off Robert, welcome back to the show. Last time I seen you on the, and you, I had you on the show. Was it at an octane event or what was it? Yes, yes. So good to see you. How have you been? Absolutely wonderful. Couldn’t be better. Every day is better since the last day. Come on. What are you working on these days?
Talk to me. I know you’re always moving, always doing something. What are you working on? Sure. Well, I’m, my name is Robert Schiestl. I’m Professor Emeritus of Pathology, environmental Health, science and Radiation College at UCA, previously at Harvard. Mm-hmm. And it’s my mission in life to make all creatures in the world.
Healthy, beautiful. Insane. Mm. And today I want to talk about the beauty and cosmetic product I have. Mm-hmm. So tell, tell us more about the product. Mm-hmm. Sure. I have a cosmetic and medical cream, which keeps everybody beautiful. And it’s highly anti-inflammatory. It’s anti-aging. Mm-hmm. It makes the skin more smooth, more firm.
And it gets rid of inflammation and it, it it also has medical applications. Mm-hmm. It gets rid of, of, of of, of, of lipos fe bombs. If you have a bleeding, it stops a bleeding. Mm-hmm. It gets rid of, of bruises. If you have a tick bite, it gets rid to see itching within 10 seconds. Yeah. It gets rid of, of, of wards of, of if you burn yourself, it gets rid of the burns and then the redness is gone, and then there’s no burn scar.
It also gets rid of wrinkles and scars. Mm. And it, it, it it has, yeah. And it has lots of other additional medical benefits. Yeah. How did you develop this originally? Like where did the idea come from? Oh, I’m a serial invent. I have 16 patents and six companies. Yeah. And this is my beauty company.
So yeah. And, and it’s, it’s in all kinds of stores. It’s in all kinds of, of online stores, marketplace stores like Walmart, Amazon gers all kinds of, all kinds of stores and flip flop shop. Yeah. And, and, and and TikTok shop, whatever. Yeah. Flip shop, TikTok shops all kinds of different stores. Yeah.
Already. What, what, what would you say some of the major, you gave a long list of, of different uses for it, of course, but what would you say, like if there were like a top two or three that, that many people are going to it for, what would you say those were? Any redness, any inflammation, any it gets rid of scars.
Of wrinkles. Mm. And makes the skin more smooth. More It’s anti-inflammatory. Yeah. Anti-aging. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And that’s interesting. So then in terms of age demographic, it sounds like individuals in their twenties can use it in if you’re old up in age, any, it doesn’t, age doesn’t matter.
Nothing. Age. Any age, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So what’s your vision for this product going forward? Like, talk to me about like the plan to continue growing. It’s obviously already in a bunch of stores. Like what, what else are you doing to grow the business? Lots of more stores. More, more, more more users. And the talk with I mean in active at the Octane Aesthetics Conference too.
Yeah. To, to talk with all the. For licensing all the mm-hmm. Like, and, and, and all the other cosmetic companies. Yeah. All, all of them actually. What is it like to compete in that industry? ’cause it’s so competitive, the beauty industry? I mean, just in general, like the beauty industry or the, like, that’s, that’s a big industry, but what’s it like to compete as an entrepreneur?
Yeah, so my things are just much better because it’s not just, it’s nots, just not a. Not just a beauty. Yeah, yeah. But also a medical cream. Mm. Which most of the other beauty products cannot do. Hmm. How do you deal with marketing on that? Because I feel like those are usually two segments that don’t always like, you know, come together.
There’s either beauty side of things or there’s the medical side of things. But I don’t know, in a cream, if that’s always, how do you deal with marketing for that? Sure. I mean, celebrity marketing, I’m marketing all over the place. Mm-hmm. And, and and, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, and also RangeMe which, which puts together the entrepreneurs and the, and the products mm-hmm.
With all the different shops 160 different shops in in the US and, and all the international. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. That’s interesting. And so what are the, is it, you said it’s international as well, so I feel like I can ship it, my website, whatever. Whatever wherever the server is, is located in whatever country the website opens in that particular country of, of the world.
Interesting. Yeah. And I can ship it to any country in the world. Yeah. Yeah. So what are, what other products are you working on right now? You said that you got in, in the beauty category in that, for that particular company. I know you have many companies, but are there any other products you’re working on or what’s in the lab?
Let me, in the lab, Robert. Sure, sure. It’s, it’s also as a, as a. Massage oil. Yeah. And it it does tons of things. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And do you have any, and are you working on, are you developing any other inventions right now? What else do you have going on? Let me into your lab, Robert. You don’t wanna let I have of other things.
What, what are you doing on the, anything else in the beauty side or the cream side or? Beauty side, it’s, it’s, it’s actually how does everything a beauty cream should do? And, and yeah, it, it so what, what we’ll do is. We put actually a human Recu album in, in, in, in the cream. Mm. Which makes it more, it’s called Tissue re-Engineering, which you need to get rid of a of, of, of, of, of of scars and of wrinkles.
Yeah. Yeah. Which is a very slow process. And that would actually enhance that process a little bit. Mm. What are the clients saying? What are the clients saying? I feel like everybody loves it. I have, I have 60 to 70% repeated bias. Wow. Yeah. That’s a very high rate. That’s a very what, what would be a normal rate for like a, for that industry?
I feel like it can’t be anywhere near that. That’s pretty high. Probably in the 20, 30%. That’s what I’m thinking. Right? Yeah. So you’re at least, at least double, maybe triple, depending on the segment. Wow. And is that like and that’s a lot of online data. I’m just curious where you get the. Those are human user data.
Yeah. Yeah. From, from, from, from brick and mortar too. ’cause you’re in a bunch of stores too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Whoa, that’s, and how long have you been working on this? Like, I, I know we’ve talked about it, right? I asked you when you started 21 Iron Incorporated a company. So, so wow, you’re four years in.
Yeah. Four years in. How did you know the, from whenever someone has something new or something like really good like this how did you know it was ready to bring to market? How did you know to make that decision as its inventor? Oh, that comes actually from the users. Oh, really? That’s just feedback from the users.
Oh. And whatever you try, you, you, you increase the range of things. Me through that, take me through that process for a moment. So when you came back to, I don’t know, 2021. 2020, whatever it was, yeah. So what, what I do, I, I tell everybody that it, it already does all kinds of different things. Yeah. Whatever they think it will not do.
It’ll do, and then they try it with new things and then I get new data. Yeah. That’s funny. And did you have so I make everybody being an experiment data. Oh my gosh. And so was this a was this like a focus group originally, or multiple focus groups, or did you mail, like how did you get to everybody who uses it, but in the beginning when you launched it.
No, I just started it and really, oh, so you just did first I actually started in my own kitchen to produce it. No, that’s the story I want. How did that happen? And then, then I, I taught the, our producer how to, how to produce it. I had to show it. When you, hold on. Go back to the kitchen. I want you to go back to the kitchen.
You’re in the kitchen in the, you’re making ice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I cooked, I cooked the oils and, and no, the, yeah. Yeah. I had my own home production. Okay. So after, in the home production stage, how did you test back then? Did you give it to friends? Did you Yeah, yeah, yeah. To, to everybody. Yeah. Whoever you met, you were like, Hey, try this and tell the way you think.
Sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Did it have a label in the early days? No. ’cause you were just early days. It didn’t, I mean, the very early days, obviously now it’s a big company, it’s professional. I just find it interesting whenever I meet entrepreneurs to hear, like the first prototype, so the first prototype, you were in your, you were in your kitchen.
That’s right. That’s amazing. And and now fast forward today you’re in brick and mortar stores. You have mostly online stores, actually all the marketplace stores once it, it, it sells in the marketplace. Yeah. Like Walmart marketplace. Yeah, yeah. All these online stores, and once it sells in the online stores, then.
They, they, they, they will put in the brick and mortar stores as well. Amazing. Well, Robert, it’s been fun catching up with you Again, I love this story. I, I feel like I’m the only podcaster that has the, the story of the beginning of this with you in your kitchen. So thank you for sharing that with me.
