About Operation Jump Start
Since 1994, Operation Jump Start (OJS) has provided the comprehensive resources, structure and mentoring needed to enable youth in underserved communities to reach their potential through a college education. Its flagship program is the College Access Program whereby, starting in the 8th grade children receive individual mentoring, educational case-management, and developmentally-based workshops through 10th grade. OJS also provides enhanced support to high school upperclassmen and college students in the program called College Success. Through College Success, youth receive workshops and case management sessions that address the transition to college for high school students and their parents, college application assistance, and college readiness skills. Once college admission is obtained, the program is there to provide individualized case management, financial, educational and emotional support. This support is designed to meet the specific needs of each college student and continues until the student achieves a bachelor’s degree. For nearly 25 years, OJS has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of vulnerable youth.
