Hey, I’d like to welcome you to another episode of Mission Matters. My name is Adam Torres and today we are at the Milken Global Conference 2025 in Beverly Hills, California.
It’s our fourth year covering the conference. It’s been packed, I think I was told, over 5,000 people there. And man, it’s been great. And today we’re at a VIP event at this amazing mansion in Beverly Hills, and I have my guest, Angelo. Angelo, welcome. Adam, such a pleasure. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you.
So Milken Global, like the conference, this is a special time in Beverly Hills, special time of the year. What brings you out? I mean, come on. The Milken Conference is America’s version of Davos, so the World Economic Forum. So some of the world’s most incredible people for me, being an investor, people like Bill Ackman, Scott Bessett.
Just being here and learning so much, but even better than that, meeting people like you meeting so many incredible people that I could learn from. Yeah. So I’ve learned in my decades in business and starting companies that. Always keep an open mindset, always be learning. Mm-hmm. So it’s incredible to, you know, be here with you and meet so many people at this incredible house tonight.
Yeah. So talk to me a little bit more about, about what you’re working on. Talk about any projects or things that you got going on. Okay. Happy to do it. A little bit of context. I’m active in what’s called a family office world. Mm-hmm. So I have my own family office as an active investor. I’ve been more lucky than good.
But I enjoy investing. I enjoy. Geopolitics macro. Yeah. Understanding kind of how the world works, which by the way, we never really do, but we try hard and we look to learn. And I believe entrepreneurship in starting companies is really at America’s heart. Mm-hmm. So, one, I wanna employ people, I want to build companies.
I get find it exciting involved my son, who’s now 21. So for me, these are all things. And how about this? What’s wrong with making a, a positive impact on the world? Yeah. So it’s really something that I really, really enjoy more than potentially the money. It’s the opportunity of hopefully leaving a legacy and doing something great.
Yeah. Yeah. So 21-year-old son, that, that gets me thinking, like being an entrepreneur. If you were to go back in time, like you’re obviously talking to your son about these things. Mm-hmm. What advice. Like, what, what kind of things are you schooling? Am I, oh man. I guess we all have regrets, so of course if I could go back to my 21-year-old self, which I guess I’m indirectly doing with my son that’s where my head was at.
That’s why I asked the question. I’m like, to be 21 again. I mean, I, I really got fortunate when I focused on something that I was obsessed on and I love. The old adage of it doesn’t feel like a job. I start companies in my community that I really enjoy and it’s 24 7. And I tell people that and they go, oh, I feel like that sounds so hard.
It’s not hard. It’s love. Yeah. I get to have my own freedom. I make my own hours, which means I work 24 hours a day, which means you get to work a hundred hours instead of 50 or 60. Indeed. But I guess if I had to go back and say one. Stop looking for perfection. Start now. Mm-hmm. When you look to, oh, I gotta curate my idea.
It’s not good enough. I gotta rewrite it, bro. That’s not what a real entrepreneur, you gotta plan in your head. You put a little bit of structure behind it and you move forward. Mm-hmm. Maybe you. You gotta iterate always. ’cause when I was growing up, you do a business plan, 60 pages waste of time. Mm. The reality is the business always ends up being different than what you thought your plan was.
Yeah. No disrespect to education in the system, it does provide value. Mm-hmm. But at the end of the day, I wanna learn by immersing myself and I wanna learn from other entrepreneurs. Right. They may not have even graduated high school. It’s incredible running. Family offices and getting a chance to know entrepreneurs often worth a hundred million dollars or more.
Man, like their stories are incredible. Yeah. Often from humble backgrounds, yet having the spirit, the belief moving forward, and in today’s world with AI and how things are working with technology. I don’t need to buy a building when I’m young. I don’t need a, in theory, a lot of money. Yeah. Like, don’t make excuses.
You know, weak people think the world is against them. Mm-hmm. Strong people admit it might be, and they don’t care. They just move forward. Yeah. So I believe in the concept of the opportunity of building something great. And by the way, I may fail. I failed multiple times. I’m imperfect. But the mindset, so what I’ve learned from billionaires, their mindset is just simply better than the average person.
Mm-hmm. Don’t make excuses, just have a chance to move forward, take action, do things. Mm-hmm. So what’s the name of your podcast? My podcast when do you start? One man? You’re on fire. What are you talking about? I guess it goes by like two Shirah. Get this guy podcast, man. What’s going on? Are you kidding me?
You’re on fire in your head. You’re talking to you. Let’s go. Let’s go. So the traditional Apple and Spotify, it goes after my name, duh. Angelo Robles podcast. But really I’m more active visually now on YouTube. Okay. So in the world of family offices, I got lucky When YouTube kind of first came out, I registered.
Family office. Yeah, so I’m simply at family office on YouTube. I don’t have a big following, but I got a very impactful group of people. I believe that. So what I enjoy doing is I enjoy doing often three hour the Joe Rogan of the family office world. Well you do the three hour I sit down brother and I’m doing long interviews.
I do it. Oh my gosh. I do it for me. I wanna learns. That’s love. Yeah. I wanna learn from these geopolitical thought leaders, economics, macro investing, ai, which I’m very active in. But lately I have found a little bit of a trend, and you may be doing this too. I, I still do that. Yeah. But I like to do five to 10 minute shorts.
Sure. Just kind of talk from things I’m seeing. And maybe they’re a little imperfect. I’m an imperfect person. Yeah. But the opportunity of sharing really grassroots in terms of what I’m doing. Mm-hmm. Especially now in the world of, again, macro in terms of investing, in terms of business building, building relationships.
And I’ve been extremely active in an antiquated community called, again, mainly the single family office community Yeah. Of integrating. And not just mindset and new paradigms of thinking, but ai. Mm-hmm. So I’m building my own AI family office and AI is gonna be so impactful. It, I could paint a little bit of a scary picture, but let’s be optimistic.
Let’s make good things happen. And this goes back to entrepreneurship in today’s world, with the resources at our fingertips, anywhere in the world, you could be broke. If you got a phone, a connection, and access to often even free tools in ai, yeah, you could do incredible things. Amazing. All right. Last thing I want you to do, look into the camera.
How can people follow you? Say that YouTube again or at websites, anywhere else anybody can follow you? Sure. It’s very kind on YouTube. Simply it’s at family office.
