All right, so today I have Sean Lee on the line, and he’s the general manager over at the American Dream Builders, Inc.
Sean, welcome to the show. Thank you Adam. It’s great pleasure to be here. Alright Sean, so we got a lot to talk about today. First off, for everybody that’s been watching this show for, or listening to this for a while, I’ve been covering the Megamix Expo that’s gonna be coming up in Arcadia, California.
It’s gonna be a huge event. I’m gonna be out there doing some live podcasting, encourage everybody to come out. You can grab some tickets@megamixexpo.com, so encourage everybody to come out and have some fun. And also that’s where I met Sean. going to be he’s going to be attending. He’s also going to be an exhibitor.
First thing, Sean, is this your first time out or have you been to one of these before? Actually, this is our second time. I’m a newbie. I’m a new man. So how’d they get you back? Obviously it worked because you you don’t normally go back to something that he tried. So how’d they get you back, man? Tell me about the event.
So the one thing about mega mix sites is very different than most networking event where most most of these type of events is that you’re not there to look just for customers or for products. You’re actually look there’s for networking. So imagine like a big expo that’s designed just to build network and meet more people, whether it’s to build connections in your business or build connection in your life.
The thing is, there’s a lot of different type of events that goes around, but Megamix is able to cater to small business owners where when we’re looking for, let’s say, you know, others like suppliers or other business that we can connect with, it’s almost so easy that the first event that we went to we ended up, we ended up having about two to three different partners.
That we got out of that event where so now we have a specific party that can help with the restoration of, you know, like more remediation or asbestos and any of that we, we have another partner that solely does a foundation repair now. So this was connection that I never thought I would be able to meet from the networking event, like, and make a mix about that out.
Wow. That’s that’s amazing. And let’s go, let’s spend some time also on, on my, oh, wait, so you were there last year. So this year, what I’m told is the last year, that was a pretty big event and they had a pretty big like it was a big showing over at the, over at Santa Anita park. And again, Arcadia, California, for those of you that don’t know what that is, it’s a huge racetrack, beautiful overlooks the mountains.
I mean, it’s beautiful. The footprint this year though, when I went and checked it out Tony was showing me like the layout. Yeah. It’s huge. They took on like double the space or something. It’s insane. And the vendors, hundreds of booths. I’m like, man, you guys are doing it big, huh? Yeah, for sure. So, last year it was that same place, Centernita Racetrack.
Yep. it was kind of where, like, everyone was just there in one of the two smaller rooms in the back, and what I noticed this year that they have done a great job was they categorized and basically they have zoned it, so instead of running around different rooms and seeing, you know, like, beauty supplies, construction stuff, life insurance stuff, you know, This year they separated where there’s five different zones from health and beauty to construction only to New technology to fmb and they even have a they even have a zone this year For job seeking which is which I think is amazing.
So now now you can actually join this Join the megamix actual and be in a zone where it’s actually tailored just for the industry that you’re in instead of Having like an issue. So let’s say if someone was doing cosmetic and have like an insurance company right next to them That’s kind of a bunch of different industries together.
So this time it’s all set where you’re with your own industry. So the networking is going to be even more efficient. Yeah. I was told that there was a, I think it doubled from last year. So I’m really looking forward to the new connections that we are able to make this year and more people that we can help out.
Let’s switch it up a bit. Let’s get into American dream builders, Inc. So tell us a little bit more about the company. So I think the name is pretty, obvious. we’re American dream builders. Our goal is to help people achieve. And build their American dreams, right? So whether it’s to remodel a new house, but they bought a forever home and they want to remodel it, they want to flip it, right?
They want to build ADU. That’s what we specialize in from ground up. What areas are you serving? We started in South Bay. Our office is in Torrance. We have actually expanded throughout the majority of Southern California. So, we have projects all the way down south in San Diego, up north in Encino.
All over San Gabriel Valley, Arcadia, South Bay Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Claremont. So what kind of all over Southern California? You’re all over then, yeah, all over Southern California. Yeah, we’re all over Southern California. As a builder you know, a lot of conversation going on right now.
You know, after the fires, people rebuilding like what are you seeing out there? What are you seeing out there? And what are some of the thoughts or concerns that people that are concerned? Considering rebuilding and in that situation, they should be considering. So first and foremost, I need to say, a lot of people don’t know this, but the city doesn’t actually hold residential floor plans or blueprint. So with all the victims that has gone through the fire, that has been, you know, through the fire incident, I would say use this time right now while the city and the government is doing cleanup to go get plans, to go contact architects and engineers right now.
Because what you want to do is you want to, get ahead of the game, right? From L. A. Public Works, the timeline that they have is cleanup is going to end at So hazardous cleanup, that’s what they’re doing right now, is going to end at the end of this month, so 31st of March. And that’s the timeline where the victims can apply with L.
A. Public Works to get free demolition and cleanup. Mhm. And that sign up ends on the march. The rest of the demolition and cleanup will not finish until january of 2026. And then then is when the homeowners are able to go and get and start doing the plans and start rebuilding.
So I said, use this time right now to just, you know, like If you can’t get an architect, you know, if you have like photos of what your house used to look like, start getting everything ready so by January of next year, you can get ahead of everyone else and get all that makes sense and get it going first.
Yeah, so if you just start, then everybody’s gonna be like, you know what I mean? Oh, my gosh. Exactly. And for everyone else that’s not a fire victim that wants to do a rebuild or wants to do renovation or wants to build ADU, I say don’t hesitate anymore. Don’t, don’t try to wait for interest rate to drop or money to, money to get better or price to drop.
Because , as we start building back up the community for Altadena and Palisades. Material is going to become scarce. Oh, yeah, that makes a lot of sense. So the prices are not coming down. It’s going to go up more. And how much is going to go up? We don’t know. Los Angeles full built of an ADU is about 300 to 400 a square foot.
When the material becomes scarce, we’re looking, we’re actually guesstimating that it might even hit five, six, up to 700 a square foot. So definitely, yeah, so for those that are not fire victims, if you are holding on a project, just get started as soon as you can. Otherwise, you’re going to hit like, you’re going to hit a time where everything is going to be really hard to get.
Old material is going to get hard to get and everything’s going to be very pricey. Man, that makes a lot of sense. And that’s going to come on us pretty fast because we’re already in March. So January is going to, you blink, man. It’s going to be, it’s going to be January. Right? Yeah. I mean, think about it. I blinked.
I was 18 years old, like, just yesterday. Come on, man. No, we’re good. I’m looking forward to meeting you in person. This is going to be funny. I’m like, man.
