The discussion focuses on Dr. Wright’s unique path to realizing his own potential, the importance of access to psychological assessment in helping kids understand how their brain works, and allows them to realize their unique strengths. Dr. Kate and Dr. Wright also dig into the idea of neurodiversity as diversity in action, along with his work at Parallel Learning, a company dedicated to providing access to assessment for kids who learn and think differently. Throughout the discussion, Dr. Wright highlights the importance of helping parents to see what is possible for a child in the long run, despite more immediate challenges. 

Dr. A. Jordan Wright is a clinical and developmental psychologist who serves as Chief Clinical Officer at Parallel Learning, as well as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University, where he directs the PhD program and the Center for Counseling and Community Wellbeing. He received a Master’s in Psychology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. He specializes in psychological testing and assessment, having authored multiple widely used textbooks on the subject, including Conducting Psychological Assessment: A Guide for Practitioners and the Handbook of Psychological Assessment, Sixth Edition. Dr. Jordan also works extensively in social justice within the field of psychology and is currently completing a book on incorporating culture into psychological assessment.
