Global Advisory Council Lead at Action Against Hunger
Jan Hines is a mission-driven nonprofit and global health leader with over two decades of experience advancing equity in healthcare, humanitarian aid, and social services. She currently serves as the lead for the Global Advisory Council at Action Against Hunger, where she spearheads strategic partnerships and mobilizes resources to combat malnutrition and drive systemic change—particularly for women and girls most affected by food insecurity and health disparities. Jan’s commitment to women’s health is grounded in years of cross-sector leadership. From building nationwide transplant education campaigns to launching community-based nutrition and maternal health initiatives, she has consistently championed the well-being of women as the cornerstone of healthier families and more resilient societies. Most recently, she played a pivotal role in securing Action Against Hunger’s invitation to join the Jill Biden Global Women’s Health Initiative through the Milken Institute, positioning the organization as a key voice in a high-impact coalition of global health leaders. Prior to her current role, Jan held leadership positions at Baxter International, where she collaborated with healthcare systems on life-saving diagnostics, and at NJ Sharing Network, where she raised over $10 million for organ donation and led groundbreaking community outreach campaigns. She has also served in volunteer leadership with Heartcare International, the Boys & Girls Club of Newark, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for children in foster care), consistently advocating for access, dignity, and care for underserved populations. Jan holds a B.A. in American Studies from Rutgers University and has been featured across media platforms for her expertise in nonprofit leadership, donor engagement, and women’s health equity. Her work is rooted in the belief that investing in women’s health is the most powerful driver of global progress.
