Sylvia Kwan
CEO and CIO, Ellevest
Dr. Sylvia Kwan is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer at Ellevest, a financial services firm dedicated to helping women and families build wealth with intention. With over 30 years of experience, she held key roles at Financial Engines, Charles Schwab Investment Management, and The Boston Company. A holder of both CFA® and CAIA® designations, Dr. Kwan serves as a Director of Exit 182 Group, LLC where she shares responsibility for the fiduciary oversight of Grinnell College’s $3B endowment. She also serves on the boards of Lotus Campaign, a nonprofit addressing homelessness, the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA), and the CAIA.nxt™ advisory council. Dr. Kwan earned a B.S. in applied mathematics and computer science from Brown University and a Ph.D. in engineering-economic systems from Stanford University. When she’s not helping to close the gender wealth gap, Dr. Kwan is an avid cyclist and ice cream maker.
