Hey, I’d like to welcome you to another episode of Mission Matters. My name is Adam Torres. And she is a startup founder, a modern mystic and experiences designer over at the universe of Aelia Kos.
Aelia, welcome to the show. Thank you. It’s great to be here. And thank you for inviting me, Adam. Oh my gosh, so much fun. And what a great topic. So you’re creating spaces where wealth meets spirituality. And the concept is that with these spaces, like doing business can become effortless. I was like, Oh my gosh, well, I’m in what, well, how do we do this?
So maybe Elia, just to get us kicked off here, just like, how did this concept come to you? Or how did you come up with this idea of creating these spaces and just creating that environment? Like where’d this come from? it was a great observation that happened.
I have been into the, world of spiritual business and mentoring and coaching for the last years. And I was creating events before and I saw something very interesting happening it kept happening again and again, no matter what the startup was, no matter what the industry was, no matter what it was, it was like a pattern that was.
Repeating itself. And it was, well, you know, when you meet like either an investor in startup or two businesses that you’re like, they’re the perfect match. They can totally do business together. It’s literally a match made of heaven. And then they enter into conversation over conversations for months, right?
Like really establishing the collaboration and talking the specifics and the solution or the investment and last minute, but literally last minute. In the very last step before really closing the deal, something just doesn’t click and I kept seeing so many times. I’m like, we are missing something here and it’s not solution based because it was not 1.
Business. It was not one startup. It was just a pattern that was happening across the sector. I’m like, okay, I think it’s something behavioral. It’s not actually a system that we are missing. And really reverse engineering human psychology. I’m like, I don’t think we’re missing the trust, actually. Very, very basic first type of, I actually trust you enough to want to do business with you enough to sit down and solve this one obstacle to actually make it happen.
So it really came from there. I’m like, okay, how can I find a way or design a way that we establish the trust first and then we go into the business relationship. To really be to see if we can accelerate that and make it more effortless and being in the in the experiences and really loving in person events and really loving showcasing to people what they can do with their internal energy and how they can shape their environment outside which was like my seven years past.
I’m like, okay, let’s see. Let’s make it, let’s make an experiment. Let’s bring people together that they are all on a mission and they’re all entrepreneurs or investors. They’re in business in general, in different sectors in business. And let’s not talk business. Nothing. It’s like the rule is like, we don’t talk business, but business happens.
That was my promise. And actually my promise was like, it will be very easily logistically. Some of the people right now listening, they’re like, Oh my gosh, wait a minute. I’m going to go to something for business, but I’m not going to talk business. How does this work? Good. I love it. Exactly. So it was really a very big experiment.
And it was also had another two On top like requirements, it will be the easiest event I have ever created logistically for me because I really feel that business needs to start becoming lighter as in processes and it will be the most impactful ever. I’m like, okay, let’s say how it was impressive.
Like literally it was the only thing I never had to market. People were finding it. I don’t even know where they were finding it. I was like, okay. That’s interesting. And then what happened is that the thing that I thought it would be the most difficult to explain to entrepreneurs that was, we’re actually not going to do business for a weekend.
It was the thing that most people were loving. And I’m like, Oh my God, thank you so much. I need a breath. Like, thank you. I’m like, Oh, wow. Where are we? Okay. Interesting. And then the event happened and I was like last August, the first one of these series, and we’re already creating the fourth one now in June.
And the results were literally blowing my mind. And I was like, how is that possible? People start raising for each other. People start hiring each other and they decided to relocate. I’m like, wait a second. Wow. And we didn’t talk business. Wow. do you think that happened? Like, , what do you think took place?
Because you’re obviously. you’re very intuitive, I’ll make that statement, and you have a great sense of observation and perception, and you’re obviously in touch, like, otherwise you couldn’t even have created this. And then for the experiment to play out, and to actually get, you know, maybe exceed, at least meet, but, or possibly exceed your expectations like, what do you think happened?
So I was, I was really observing that and saying, okay, let me see what happened. What I realized is like, that was the very first event that I actually approached the people I was inviting in as And when I say adults, are on their mission. They know what they’re doing. They know why they’re here.
They know their purpose. And it’s clear. So I’m like, I don’t think this people by having a weekend that is more open and they’re more themselves will lose focus. So that was my first approach. I’m like, I trust them. But if they see somebody else. That fits their future and if I am able to really showcase the best that I can of the other person so they can see really, really clearly the other person, right?
Not the facade, not the experience, not what it’s presenting, not the pitch, but actually, really, truly the quality of the human being in front of them. And if this human being is doing something amazing with their business that connects to the business of somebody else, they will take the steps and they will talk after, and they will do business together.
And indeed, people are adults when we treat them as adults, they can have amazing fun for a weekend, truly show themselves vulnerably, So, behind the closed doors and talk about challenges and talk about everything that is happening and they go back and we do business after if somebody we have connected truly with somebody who can benefit their initiative.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense and I feel like for some people when this happens, or there’s just a different type of connection that happens, like, even just like, whether it’s spiritual or otherwise, there’s a different connection. Especially, and you mentioned doing different locations, right?
So where it is, like, what’s your vision for the events, the locations, like, things like that, like you mentioned you did one so far, I believe. Like, what’s the vision going forward for the locations and things like that? Cause got this part of it. I’m like, wow, that’s amazing.
Now, now where, where are you going to be holding these at? actually we’re already in the fourth edition. Oh, amazing. Wow. So yeah, that’s amazing. Congratulations. That’s not from as an entrepreneur, you know, inception to idea to now forth. Like that’s amazing. Congrats. Thank you. each one of them is very unique.
So we started and the first three happened in, on the Alps in Switzerland, where I’m also based and it’s one country that they really appreciate for the quality of nature is bringing. I love really creating most of my events in a very pristine natural environment because it does affect us a lot to be hearing coherent sounds and being able to be outside and be able to smell good air and drink good water.
Wanting it or not, it does create a huge, like, it almost facilitates my work by 40 percent. To tell you the truth. And so all of them will be in very unique locations. Now we are moving beyond Switzerland and we are checking for to do the next one in June in outside of Paris. It’s one of the places that I know very much personally, it has a huge forest, a beautiful Chateau actually with a huge forest, but I feel it’s one of the most healthy, energetic environments that I know in terms of micro villages.
very peculiar project, but it’s not exactly a village, but it is in this direction of community living, but a very different one. So we are checking for doing it there. And that actually opened because the owner of the Chateau was in the last one. And he really loved what we are creating.
So he wants to open it. So even for you, it works. Yeah. The owner of the Chateau was there. I mean, like in terms of like expanding where the next location would be, like, I’m feeling like magic happens when you go to these things. I mean, in the last one, literally, I knew that we will not be able to continue the locations.
We were doing it for a couple of months just because they are going to have to do reworks in the space. And like, I’m sure something will open three houses open from the last event. It was incredible. I’m like, okay, we’ll have options. This is good. This is good. I like it. You’re like, we have options.
They’re good. talk to me about and now launching the club, the private club that you’re launching. So the universe of Ilia coast like, how’d this come about? Like, is this the next step or the next iteration of kind of pulling everything together?
Exactly. It’s like I saw that, okay, by now I can say that we have found the source, a special source for the event that works really well and it’s equally fun and enjoyable, but also bring like business results. Right. And then I was realizing that I would love to accompany people way more than one event.
Because I have seen that the more you start deepening relationships, the more the results you can bring, they just extrapolate to the universe, like literally. So that’s the proposal of the private club. It is people that I know, I have, I trust and we have got. To spend enough time, both personally and in business that I can say, okay, this person that can really guarantee their quality off.
Right. And we are coming together and we are coming together into physical locations, but also like online to really deepen these connections and keep creating a feeling like of the family, practically family business family. Yeah. So you know, , for example, we’re going to do the first event in July in LA and we will know that every July we meet in LA.
So you actually remove the formal of like, Oh my God, I need to get to know all the people because I’m not going to see them. Or who knows when I’m going to see them again, which usually happens in the events. And you’re like, no, no. The connection that needs to happen this time will happen this time. The ones that don’t have space or time, I know they will happen next time.
We meet four times per year, and we keep deepening the relationships. And then, we will go into a very interesting personalization for the cloud. Like, one of the things I really love to work with people, and I think it’s literally my first. Power superpower is like when I meet somebody online too, but in person, it’s even more concrete.
I can almost like see their blueprint, their soul blueprint. you know what they’re doing, you know who they are, but you also receive the subtle layers of how they would like to experience life. How they would like to experience business. Not everybody likes to do business the same way, for example.
Some people are very fast and very precise and systematic. Some of them are very flowing and open and expansive. Like, these are almost like two different things. If you connect these two, it might be tricky for them to do business together, even if they have a solution that fits. Because the relationship will not fit.
The business relationship, right? So, I love creating this. cunning of the human being. I mean, it happens all the time. It’s very, it’s really fun by now. Either I will know somebody that will literally arise in my awareness. It’s exactly the person that this person that I have met needs to meet, or in the next few days after meeting somebody, things will come into my awareness.
And in my reality, I will be receiving from somewhere an email or from the groups that I am, or from the connections I have that is bringing the solution that this person needs. And it keeps happening all the time that I need, I need to be able to offer that like more widely, because it gives really Yeah, it’s really, really magic, and it keeps happening, so I’m like, this needs to become something that can serve others more systematic way, practically.
The universe of Elia Kos. What does this name represent for you? Like, how did you come up with the inspiration for the name? Yeah, it’s, it’s a combination of two different aspects. First, I really, really love like really referring to all of this magic that I was telling you when it happens, like my phrase was like, hashtag universe, I’ve been saying that for years.
Yeah. So because you were like, how did that come to you? I’m like, I really don’t know where it’s coming. I love it. I love it. I have a feeling the audience is going to be hearing that from now on. Hashtag universe. I love it. I’m in, I’m in. You just spread it. I’ll give you credit as long as I can. And as long as I remember in a year, it’ll be that I made it up.
So sorry in advance. No problem at all. We’d love to have you there anyway. So that was the first reason. And the second one is like, I have been receiving again and again feedback from people who have gotten into my world through working with me either as a startup or in personal development. And they’re like, you don’t understand It’s almost like as if I have walked into a new world that the places I go, the people I meet, kind of businesses I get involved in, I didn’t even know that they exist before.
I’m like, yeah, yeah, I know. it’s my world. It’s my universe. So it really came from there. Like people are walking in and are like, So you attracted it somehow. Hashtag universe. It’s what it was. I love it. Exactly. It’s a parlor universe. Most people tend to love it. So I think that’s why it was the name came for the initiative because you’re really walking into a network of opportunity.
This is not just one product. Right. How do you see just the future of just luxury travel, , the resort industry, like, how do you see all of that play now? Cause I feel like you’re, I’ve noticed something, but I’m not in that industry like per se. I mean, I guess I technically am, but let’s just say I don’t own travel business, but I’ve noticed like that.
And some of the people I’ve interviewed, like it’s exploding, like people. Every, I mean, maybe I don’t think it’s just in LA, but events are packed. I feel like after the pandemic, after all of that stuff was over, like people are yearning for in person human connection again, because I don’t care what it is, a sporting event, like traveling.
I know the cruise line industry is booming. Like, like, what are you seeing? It is indeed. And the moment you see that you can almost be sure that then over saturation will happen in the next. Six months, one year, because many people are entering and I have started seeing it actually already in some markets.
I was actually in Cyprus exploring the market. There is already certain number of saturation of events. And people start getting less committed. They’re like, yeah, I will check last minute. It happened like that. I have so many options. Why should I go to this one? So what I see as a difference is we’re moving from almost like an external wealth and luxury identification to an internal one.
You will go start going to the things that really actually matter to you. Yeah, you will start going to the thing that are really paying attention to the customer care, not because they have to, but because they actually really care. I’ve noticed that the quality, the quality of some events, like now, even now that you say that makes perfect sense.
So the beginning, I was more apt to go to some things now, even just myself. I’m like no, that’s good. I’m pretty. Particular, but in the beginning, everybody’s going to everything. Now it’s like, ah, who’s throwing it. What’s going to be there. Who’s going to be there? Like, yeah, you’re right. I didn’t even think of preserving our time.
Yeah. People start preserving their time and there will be more selective, which is actually great. Absolutely. Higher quality audience or whatever I should say, whatever audience you’re looking for, or you feel attracted to, I should say that. Yeah. Exactly. And I see that there will be like these bubbles that you will be more attracted to because you resonate with them way more and you will prioritize them and others will be your optional.
Yeah. It’s amazing. Well, Alia, this has been a great conversation. Hashtag universe brought us together, but it also Chirag. I mean, I believe, you know, Chirag, the other co founder here. So either you say hashtag universe or hashtag Chirag. One of the two. I’m in. I love that. Chirag. actually, you know what, he’s, this is funny.
You just made that one up today. Cause whenever we throw events or like, we just had one last night, I and people are all like, Oh my gosh, that’s amazing. Blah, blah, blah. And I’m like, well, you could thank Chirag. I’m just going to start saying hashtag Chirag. Exactly. Oh my gosh. Hashtag the universe in or in the universe or whatever.
