About Chris Petrovic
A strong, creative leader can shape an organization and ensure its profitability in a challenging and rapidly changing economy. As a technology and digital media veteran with over 20 years of management and industry experience, he has the training and entrepreneurial passion to provide the leadership that is necessary to drive the success of new ventures and growth-oriented businesses.
He currently serves as SVP and Head of Corporate Strategy, M&A and Business Development for Zynga, a leading developer of the world’s most popular games that are played by millions of customers worldwide. He’s responsible for driving the company’s growth through strategic M&A ($3B deployed to date), strategic partnerships and market expansion efforts, including the acquisitions of Peak Games, Small Giant Games, Gram Games, Peak Games board and card studio, Harpan and Puzzle Social as well as licensing partnerships with Disney (Star Wars), Warner Brothers (Harry Potter), Universal (Fast & Furious), HBO (Game of Thrones) and World Poker Tour.
Prior to Zynga, he served as the Head of Corporate Development & Licensing for Kabam, a leader in the western world for free-to-play core games with 1st and 3rd party published titles available on mobile devices. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Highwinds – a leading technology company in the content delivery and security space.
He previously served as GM of Digital Ventures for GameStop and a member of the company’s senior management. He was responsible for building on the company’s ongoing efforts to integrate digital into the company’s global multi-channel strategy through strategic partnerships, new product development; strategic investment and M&A. During his tenure at GameStop, digital revenues grew from $100MM in ’09 to over $600MM in ’12.
Prior to GameStop, he served as VP, Digital Media for Playboy Enterprises (the organization’s first dedicated digital media hire), where he managed multiple online and mobile initiatives, while also guiding new product and digital media business development efforts – both domestically and internationally. My innovative ideas and focused management style resulted in the expansion of Playboy as a lifestyle brand and has spearheaded content creation and distribution initiatives, as well as the deployment of new business models (mostly around advertising) for new and emerging platforms.
He has held numerous senior level positions across the spectrum of organizations, from early stage startups to a venture capital firm to publicly traded media/entertainment companies.
About Zynga
Zynga was founded in 2007 with the vision that play would become one of the core activities on the Internet. They pioneered social games with the belief that if they could make games simple, accessible and social the world would start playing. They are excited that games have grown to become the second most popular activity by time spent, even surpassing email. But they have a lot of hard work, innovation and growth ahead of them to create a future where social gaming is a daily habit for everyone.
